MY STORY
During my first pregnancy, I gained 70 pounds, after having her, I tried to “get my body back” with yo yo diets and random workouts, pushing myself on the treadmill but seeing no results. I experienced leakage and pelvic pressure, like many women and by well-meaning comments was told “welcome to motherhood… this is just what happens after you have kids.”
After my second pregnancy, I was eager to try something different. I joined a fitness challenge and began macro counting, which worked wonders for me! I saw great results and it became a huge tool for me. However, I was still found myself discouraged because while I saw changes everywhere, my stomach remained the same. I still had the “mom pooch” and continued dealing with pelvic pressure and pain, even doing simple tasks like vacuuming the house. I again found myself lost, confused and like my body was broken.
Throughout both pregnancies, I struggled with overwhelming body changes, constant vaginal heaviness and pressure and tough postpartum recoveries. Again, I was told these challenges were just part of motherhood. It wasn't until after my second pregnancy that I discovered the “mom pooch” and pressure were actually caused by a condition called Diastasis Recti.
Determined to find a better way, I immersed myself in learning about pelvic floor health and began healing my core. I realized that just because something is common, doesn't make it normal. I strengthened my core and by the time I was pregnant with my third baby, I no longer feared the changes that came with pregnancy. I was finally able to fully embrace that season of life.
Applying everything I learned transformed my postpartum experience. This journey sparked my passion to help other women understand that your body is not broken, it may be common, but it doesn’t have to be YOUR normal. You can feel and build the strength you deserve by healing from the inside out. That is why I created Cultivate- to provide the tools I wish I had, helping women feeling strong in their bodies, heal and strengthen their pelvic floor, and embrace the changes our bodies experience in every season of womanhood!
